View Full Version : Acoustic treatment

I'm looking for creative design ideas to treat a room primarily with shades
of gray --rather than dull single-tone solid gray. This can include black
accents, of course.

I'd appreciate a link to photos of any examples.

Many of the suppliers seem to offer lots of shades of gray. Take a
look at: RPG, EchoBusters, Auralex, ASC/Tubetrap, etc. Most offer
Guilford FR701 Fabrics (examples at:

Martin,

Kal answered the question you asked, and I'll answer the question you didn't
ask. :->)

Acoustic treatment varies greatly in terms of effectiveness. So just as you
wouldn't choose a loudspeaker or power amplifier based entirely on its
color, nor should you do that with acoustic treatment. What matters most is
how well a particular treatment absorbs, especially at low frequencies.

Didn't ask 'cause that's not where I'm challenged. :-(
But, thanks for caring.

The acoustics I got down. No problems there. I've done a bit of work in
the field. With that set, the specification is to use black, white and
shades in-between. And so, my question is about interior design. I might
just have to go to an interior designer for guidance. I was hoping that
there might be examples of monochromatic rooms on the WWW just to get some
ideas.

I'm in the processing of building a theater, here's a link to my gallery on
the AVS Forum.

Not sure how "creative" it is, but I like it.
