Just purchased a new Plasma, however extremely dissapointed with the qaulity of the Foxtel picture quality. Im using the non-iq foxtel box (standard definition I think ), which is connected via the scart cable to the clipsal starserve distribution unit where the picture is then distributed via an RF cable.

When i switch back to my normal 68cm tube tv foxtel is crystal clear. ive played around with the tv settings, and foxtel settings but can seem to get a clear picture.

I currently have set the foxtel Picture settings to use RGB, which appears to show a better picture, than the PAL or YUV option.

The next step I guess is to connect the Foxtel box direct to the TV to rule out starserve.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Starserve uses RF (modulates the signal onto a free TV channel). This is the poorest quality picture you will get. It's quite old technology but is still the most common form of video distribution through the home.

Suggest you connect to your plasma directly using "Component" (that's the red, blue and green connection type). You will need to connect audio too as component only takes care of video. The Starserve will probably be ok for smaller TV's where the imperfections are less obvious.

Cheers

Chris

no, should be ok. ive tweak as much as I could and the picture is acceptable. However, would be interested to hear any suggestions you may have.
