Hi:
I cently got a job in which the client had an extensive Crestron system - with little more than HVAC, Family Room Theater and basic lighting control. Apparently he had been thru 3 Crestron CAIP's without any success - he stated that even before the job was done as per spec all they wanted was their money. With the first guy he had paid for a "half baked job" , the second one left half way thru for a better job opportunity, the third guy left when he stumbled onto a block and could not get any help from Crestron.
This is what I did - we trashed all the Crestron stuff - replaced the old Extron with an AVATrix switcher, Replaced his Integra DPT1 with Sony ES777, Put in a new Samsung BluRay, Replaced old Dish 301 with ViP612, replaced the old Crestron PAD8 with Nuvo GRand Concerto.
Removed all the Crestron STX1550c (x3), TPS 5000 - with WEB DT366 x 4
We have now integrated everything and are getting full control with HomeLogic. The programming and options are even more sophisticated than he had before. Given that he is also very into computing - I have given him the ability to tinker with the system (we do have a full back-up in case something goes wrong). He has full control of HVAC -with programming, LIghts with schedules, Home Theater, Video cameras, MP3 music and E-mail, etc...
Needless to say he is very happy - the cost was also minimal compared to what he spent with the Crestron system and also he does not have to rely on a secretive programming situation as with crestron and their propriety system.
He is a happy person and I was happy to have been able to assist him by providing a system at reasonable cost with far more function than what he had before.
