View Full Version : sound problem ??
With my dvd player dv333 from pioneer, i'm able to get true dts surround
tract but I would like to get the 5.1 tract. Is that possible. I'm using
coax out spdif on dvd for the sound and my receiver is pioneer vsx-d509s.
I have notice a analog input 5.1 on the back of my receiver, but my dvd
player don't get those connection. I am wondering, if I can get the 5.1 on
my receiver without using analog conectivity.. I think that viewing a dvd
vith 5.1 track and using my spdif(digital) connection with my receiver give
me only dolby pro logic sound and not true 5.1!
Is 5.1 only with analog cable? And/or my receiver can get only 5.1 througt
analog cable? Those info are not written in my instruction book from
vsx-d509.? Thanks for your help?

Sounds like your settings are not correct. The digital output should
give you all of the channels available.
Check your receiver settings to make sure it's picking up the DD/DTS
signal. Try the Auto settings if available.

No, the digital output should work fine.

If your DVD player will pass DTS bitstream and your receiver can
decode it, then you should be able to hear the DTS 5.1 track
discretely via the coax digital audio out. If both of those
conditions are true, then make sure:
- The DVD player audio setup menu is set to output bitstream instead
of PCM;
- The DVD disc menu is set to the DTS track; and
- The receiver is set to decode the DTS bitstream.

I don't have any problem with a dts track. It work fine

OK
But when tryng DD 5.1 source. I get a poor result. Let say, Gladiator
as the movie, during the first battle on dts, it's amazing but when a
try dd 5.1 it doesn't sound the same (effect)on my sub and surround speaker.
