Any info would be helpful.

Happy new year to all.

I haven't seen any information at all. However, Kris Deering at
http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/main.html has run a pre-production model
through its paces and was extremely impressed. The problem is that Kris
hasn't released any information yet, so us regular guys are still in the
dark.

No, it will not.

It will be an SD-DVD universal player using ABT chips for deinterlacing and
scaling, the first time Oppo has used this hardware.

You can read the chatter about this model here:

It is presumed that Oppo is working on a HD player, but I have heard no
details or schedule. I am skeptical that we will see such a thing in 2008.

As an aside: I have not heard that any vendor is making money on HD-DVD or
Blu-Ray players yet, so it is understandable that new vendors are not rushing
into the market.

Back in September, I asked Oppo if they had any plans to build an HD
DVD or Blu-ray player. This was their response:

"We are not at this time looking into producing a HD-DVD or a Blu-Ray
players. The reason for this is that we feel that neither of these
hardware designs are mature enough to be considered by OPPO, as we run
our operation under the motto of "making a mature product better". It
is a distinct possibility for the future, but that will likely not be
for a year or more."

So don't hold your breath for an HDM player from Oppo any time soon.

Neither.
