I want to setup my Philips VCR/DVD Player combo Model#DVP3340V/17
The Combo Player has no Attenna Connections.
I Have Comcast Digital Cable Coming in
The TV is an 1993 RCA ColorTrak Stereo Monitor with a unknown Serial
Number
Do I need a new TV
All I want is to see picture from the Cable box on tv tv and watch
videos and DVDs
IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT COULD TRY TO HELP ME OUT?
Thanks,
Hastingsd

If your TV does not have A/V inputs, but only cable TV coax, then you
need to go to Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc. and get an RF Modulator.

It won't help with DVDs. A TV old enough to not to have any video
inputs won't tolerate the macrovision crap spewed by a DVD player.
It's time to collect $50 and get a less ancient TV.

Assuming the TV really is a monitor with no tuner and it has A/V
inputs, then get an A/V switch box that takes composite vid ins (or
S-Vid if the TV has that input) and hook up the video outs and L/R
analog audio outs from the cable box and combo player to 2 inputs on
the switch box. Then send the switch box outs to the TV inputs.
Switch box at Radio Shack:

If the TV has a tuner and no A/V inputs, then, as other posters have
mentioned, you'll need a RF modulator. You may not need the switch
box if you use the RF out from the cable box. RF modulator at Radio
Shack:
http://www.radioshack.com/sm-rf-modulatorvideo-component-adapter--pi-2103095.html
I confirmed your combo player really doesn't have a built in tuner and
has no antenna in or RF out. First time I've seen that.

Well it has worked just fine for at least 5 different TVs that friends
and family have.

Most people notice the picture getting a bit darker then lighter every 20
seconds.
You're lucky if you don't notice it.

Probably need a new TV..something with component inputs for the DVD/VCR and
HDMI for the cable box.

I've never seen Macro Vision mess up a direct-connected TV picture.
Why would it?
There's Macro Vision detection circuitry in VCRs to prevent duplication
that can scramble the tv image, but only when the source machine is
passed through a VCR on its way to the tv.
No [old school] tv I've ever seen has, or is susceptible, to it.
A newer tv with a/v out is a different story.

The problem is, you don't mention the model# of your TV or specify what
gozinyas/gozoutya's it has.
Without that, an intelligent reply isn't really possible.
