As this is the aus.hi-fi newsgroup & not aus.tv, any answers you might get
from here are not likely to be 100% kosher.
To save money, you can always follow (my) Plan B; don't bother watching
television at all and so you won't need to buy one. Think of all the extra
time you'll have available.
You can take on a couple of new hobbies, get fit, do a self-improvement
course, or even take up reading (Heaven forbid). You may even like to
consider meditation, or reading the Bible/Torah/Qu'ran/Riyah-us-Saliheen for
some spiritual guidance, any or all of which will be of far greater benefit
than vegging out in front of the TV.
Cheers,

Hi Brent.
Can't give you an opinion on this unit, but I will say that you should
be very wary of Panasonic's after sales service. Make sure you pick
up the extended warranty and keep your fingers crossed. I've got
another thread here (look for "Green Stripe Of Death!") about a
problem I've had. 4 months into the problem and *finally* I'm getting
the unit back on Monday (apparently).
I have a 42". It's a great unit, but if you've got a problem forget
about it...

I am, to be sure, but I wouldn't be caught dead at any party you'd be
invited to.
By the way, are you sure your nick's not 'Scatalogical Protocol'? Then at
least it
would match your mouth.

If you're considering buying one at a really really cheap price, then
consider the group buy at
http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=52487 (have to get on the list
before Sunday 12th though)
If you want to see some pics of those who have already received from the
group buy thread
http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=52848
If you want to read some info on them
http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?act=Search&CODE=show&searchid=b14bd00a620821549b8b3820867474cf&search_in=posts&result_type=topics&highlite=%2Bpx700a
Personally I love it and will be picking one up next week.
Differences between it and the 70A are
Better bass and louder, than the 70A (30w Speakers (over 21w) with 'wing'
speakers)
Anti Glare coating - Very good if you have a room with any glare ( tv looks
like a big lcd )
PIP
3rd HDMI (on front)
SD Card slot
Better looking
But it does come at a premium over the 50PX70A. But for me, the biggest
factor was that anti reflective screen.
We've got a very bright room with lots of windows, and definitely need this

I have two TVs here (or should I say screens?)...
Doesn't mean I have an antenna attached to either of them though... a
bit like the computer monitor you're presumably using to read this post?

Actually "Spanky", ruff is a lot more knowledgeable than most would give him
credit for.
He has a point, TV has been shite lately with the odd exception to
programming.
Pity the question wasn't hi-fi related. Ruff would have run rings around
you by now. :-)
As NGs are places for expressing opinions yours is noted, but I think you
have got it wrong with ruff.
Far from a bible basher - more a man of the world as in that he's been
there, done that, got the leather medal.

Is that Michael Flanders you're referring to? Didn't know he had a bible.

Let him go Alan. I had probably built my first amp before he had become the
result of a failed coitus interuptus, and have no doubt worked on more
protocols, commencing with NIC7147, than he has had vinegar strokes :-).
