Steve, just because you own these speakers don't make them the best. It's
terrible the way you act as if you are the final authority on these matter
and rarely use IMO. You reply to just about every post and the problem is
the majority of the time you don't even know what your talking about. There
are many of us that have been into the audio, and more recently HT, hobby
for awhile and can see right through it. People, please use your own ears
and listen to all recommendations. I can't believe he called this "enough
advertisement for the Canadian speaker industry", when he boast about his
B&W 600's practically on a daily basis. Each of the speakers manufacturers
mentioned above have book shelf speakers in the price range that can easily
hold their own to the B&W 600's, and IMO, Paradigm, PSB, Energy and Totem
have one's that are superior.

Bottom line is go out and listen for yourself. Steve, don't mean to piss
on your parade, but you tend to go overboard with your post.

Try http://www.htd.com/ . I don't claim to be an audiophile but I found
them to sound as good or better in the "big box" stores at half the price.
They offer a 30 day money back guarantee. I live in the same city, so I
actually got to listen in their showroom.

Again, I don't claim High end audio knowledge, but for your average Joe they
had great quality and sound for the money.

Remove the splinter to reply.

> Sorry if I stepped on your toes, but speakers are a very personal
decision, the ones you like tend to be different from the ones others do.
And I like beemers, sorry if I come on strong but there is a representative
from the Canadian speaker industry posting on this group, and the more hell
he gives me for saying beemers are superior the more strident I get.
Speakers are the last bastion of personality in the audio industry, unless
you worship at the altar of "tube" sound.
And theres nothing I hate worse than speakers designed by "invoice",order
the drivers, cad-cam the thing, put a pretty wood cabinet around it and slap
a price tag on it
Theres a line of speakers from france that uses cardboard based drivers,
thats because the guy designing them swears by them, and doesnt care if they
arent considered "up to date".
How do they sound? The reviews are good, but however they sound its
certainly not the generic sound you get from todays speaker universe.
ENERGY? Well, my local dealer went to these after he lost his beemer
francise, and like when I first heard them that DAMNED titanium tweeter was
drilling through my brain in minutes. This is the main plaint I have with
most Canadian speakers, they insist on using these tweeters that you could
shoot UFOS out of the sky with.
C'mon guys, have you never heard of cloth or aluminum?
You name it and I've listened to it, and when I was about to make my home
theater/hi-fi setup primarily HT, an afternoon with my local B&W dealer,
talking about the local music festival(which hes' in charge of) and
listening to a pair of low line beemers hooked up to some Adcom stuff
reignited my love of music. So please excuse an old man who has rediscovered
the first love of his life, sound over a decent set of speakers, and
sometimes gets a tad too enthusiastic about the speakers that made it happen
Just dont take it personal, its no slam on me if you prefer Paradigm, or
energy, or a good set of Maggies, you shouldnt consider it an insult because
I dont prefer what you choose.
Lets just all agree that if you invest in a line of speakers you will be ill
served if you dont give everything a listen, okay?

Well that's odd, since I believe Energy speakers do not use titanium
tweeters at all in any of their lines.

PSB also uses aluminum tweeters exclusively. Athena uses a polyester
based material called Teteron. And Paradigm uses aluminum or composites
in most of their lines, and titanium in their monitor series. Many
people will attest to the smoothness of the monitor line and wouldn't
call them harsh.

Everyone has their own preferences, but to suggest that Canadian
companies use only titanium is not only wrong, it shows your lack of
knowledge in the industry.

>> You name it and I've listened to it

That doesn't seem at all accurate either...if you have listened to so
many speakers, you wouldn't make such erroneous comments about them.

I suspect you're just another troll looking for attention, rather than a
serious participant in these discussions...
