Hi guys

I will buy a Bose system in US and bring it back to Denmark but we are
using 220v and in US they are using 110v is it possible to use it in
DK.

Best regards.

You can use a transformer, but it will sound just as bad as it does here.

Pumping 220v into it probably isn't a bad idea.

Do you have 440v available?

Just a heads up...a Bose system will still sound like crap no matter what
country it's in. Buy something else.

the power transformer needs to be changed and the price
of bose parts is outrageous.
buy a Bang and Olfson in Denmark.
you will be glad you did.

Also, something to be aware of - Bose record ALL their serial numbers so
they know exactly where any unit was bought. You need them to get them
repaired if anything goes wrong. You will not be able to get it repaired in
Denmark if it's been bought in the US or any other country.

Just so you know. :)

PS don't buy Bang & Olufson - even worse value for money! Looks good, but
just not worth the stupid amount of money they charge.

Don't you think that is uncalled for? I'm not a big Bose fan either but it
really is childish to make a comment like that. If it is his system then HE
likes it. He asked a question. He didn't ask your opinion of BOSE.

Well I appreciate the assumption! However I must confess that I'm only 7.
I'm sure your mom said it FELT like 13 or 14 judging by her screaming, but I

He already made up his mind. He said, " I WILL buy a Bose system"
Quit trying to be cool for your jerk off friends in the home theater
newsgroup.
Why do you want to change someone's mind who has already made a decision?
Respect his opinion or answer his question but don't try to control someone
else.
Listen to your own crappy system that sounds terrible.

Not sure which one, but you will need something like this
http://www.starkelectronic.com/st500.htm

>From the link
TO CONVERT 110 VOLTS TO 220 VOLTS:

1.Make sure the appliance to be plugged in uses fewer watts than the
transformer's rating.

2.Insert the voltage tap plug(located on the rear of the
transformer)into the pair of holes corresponding to the local voltage
standard(200,220,0r240 volts).Check carefully to be sure no error has
been made.

3.Attach the round-pin adapter to the transformer's power cord and
connect into the source of 200,220,0r240 volts.

4.110volts will be available at the front-panel outlet marked 110'
volts when the power switch is turned on To prevent damage and
possible fire hazards, the `fuse should be replaced with a slow-blow
fuse(MDL)of the same ampere rating as the original if the fuse
continues to blow, the transformer and/or the appliance connected to
it may need repair.

I wouldn't own Bose but the original poster said he was going to buy a Bose
system and a few pricks were trying to make his mind up for him by telling
him that no matter what he did it was still Bose and wouldn't sound good.
It just gets old when you read threads that someone starts and people want
to chastise them for making a decision. It's like on AVS.com someone will
say they have $300 and would like to buy a system. Obviously for $300, a
low end Yamaha or Onkyo HTIB would be what they could afford, but these self
imposed Home Theater experts automatically start telling the person they
should buy a $500 receiver and a $1500 set of speakers even though their
stated budget is $1200 BELOW that. These guys cant just answer a question
they have to give reasons why someone should or should buy a certain system
like they are these great advice givers for Home Theater. What a bunch of
self righteous assholes. Again, get a life dickheads.

Oh I can understand the frustration. I think Bose reeks personally,
overpriced low fi crap, but some people like it. And to be honest, it's not
my business if they do. Bose is often, I think, hated just because he is
successful. Like him or loathe him, he has created a market, or rather a
combination of recognized a market niche and exploited it, for people who
want better, more impressive sound than most of the dreck they've listened
to or used in their lives, and want the lifestyle/decor options it offers.
The product serves their needs and wants, for better or worse, and as I said
it's not my business if people want it. Bose's litigation practices leave
much to be desired however, bordering (on which side?) of being unethical,
ignoring prior art and still filing suit against competitors regardless.
There are a lot of people who just want a brand name they recognize and
trust and that will let them buy a sound system without all the hair pulling
of shopping around and listening to other stuff. They may be the McDonalds
class of customer, but their needs are filled.

Not that bashing Bose isn't fun. I remember being at lunch at one CES in
Chicago after an ALMA meeting with a couple of Bose engineers and a bunch of
other speaker guys. Dave Clark (of ABX infamy) made the comment, talking
about degraded transient response from the Acoustimess modules, that the
first bass note from the first Acousti-Mass module prototype could still be
heard. Everyone laughed except the Bose guys. ;-)

Well I was the one you attacked first. You are the one that stated you
wouldn't own Bose, but you WON'T recommend that someone else doesn't buy
it, even though you know what it sounds like. Then because you can't
argue a good point you start name calling. That's a sure sign of someone
who doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Sounds like you're the one who needs a life. I stand by what I
originally said.

An astute, net savy guy I once knew once said one person's tedious diatribe
is another's social life.

By answering his question, and then commenting on the sound quality of
Bose? That's an attack?

I fail to comprehend the rationale of your attitude, as opposed to the
disposition normally associated with an asshole of your caliber.

You can have the last say.
