Hi All
Been playing with a little product called a MediaGate ( http://www.airlinktek.com/english/prod_mg35.htm )
Very easy to use, and a dream to configure. It plays avi files + others including music and sits on your network. It can be used to access shared drives on the network and can even have it's own local IDE hard drive! It is possible to have multiple of these and share media between them. There is also a wireless version. You can also plug in a USB device. It's handy if you 'record' TV shows onto a hard drive (not that I have much time for TV) and supports component and digital audio out too. For the $200 it costs, coupled with the fact that I quite literally plugged it into my network and TV and it worked (even works with my shared Linux drive), I can see how these boxes will become very popular and will change our viewing habits. It comes with a remote control which I guess would probably work with the standard 38khz IR repeaters
Cheers
Chris
