Hello All,

Here is my scenario...

I have cable (no cable box)... and I am trying to connect project the
cable onto a Lenovo C400 Data/Video projector (http://www-307.ibm.com/
pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-55881)

The projector will accept several different types of input, I'm going
for either 'component' (RCA) or s-video.

My problem is.. being that I do NOT have a cable box, how do I convert
the cable signal to either RCA or s-video and hook it to the
projector.

I also bought a PHILIPS Master Video switching center with 4 sets of
RCA inputs, one set of RCA outputs, one COAX cable in, and one COAX
cable out.

My problem is changing channels. I'm assuming, since I don't have a
cable box that I'll need a VCR to change the channels?

Anyhow.. if someone could help me figure this hookup out, I would be
most grateful!

Thanks,
Jeff

A projector has no turner --- it simply projects what is fed to it. You
need to run the cable through somehting with a turner (PC w/ tuner card,
cable box, another TV) and feed the signal coming out into your projector.

Ding! We have a winner! The correct answer is to use a VCR as the tuner for
the incoming cable, and connect the composite or s-video (if present) video
output from the VCR to the projector. (The signal quality from the cable
will be the same either way, being limited by the analog NTSC nature of the
incoming cable feed, and "component" video is not a consideration with this
hookup.)

If you don't care about actually playing or recording tapes, pick up an old
broken VCR for pennies at the Goodwill; the tuners usually still work.
