My local BB has a Toshiba 30DF56 floor model "open box" for $350, a
VERY good price for "new", especially considering I can pick it up and
not pay $100+ for shipping. Amazon/J&R has it for $400 plus $169
shipping. Nice TV, would suit my needs for a few years, digital, 16x9
if only 480i. BUT, the BB rep said it's been on about 12 hours a day
for a year, nearly 4400 hours! Of course, that's not on a static
image, so burn-in shouldn't be much of an issue. The picture it's
showing shows no problems, looking as good or better than their other
CRT TVs on the floor. The rep wants to sell me a 3-year plan on it,
saying that should cover my worries, but that makes it $400, and I
don't think this would cover simple ageing, nor would Toshiba's
warranty.

* 30-inch flat-screen CRT TV with widescreen aspect ratio and
480i display resolution; measures 30.4 x 21.65 x 22.2 inches (WxHxD)
* Integrated NTSC, ATSC tuners; QAM tuner compatible with
unscrambled HDTV cable reception
* FST Pure Flat screen delivers increased viewing angles;
increases brightness and sharpness
* Inputs: 2 composite (1 front), 1 S-Video, 1 component, 1
headphone
* Two stereo speakers, 5 watts apiece (10 watts total); virtual
surround sound

Obviously if money wasn't an issue I'd be considering at least a true
high-def CRT with HDMI, if not an LCD/plasma unit. But it is. Any
advice? $569? $350? $400 with contract?
