Samsung LA46F71BX 46inch 1080p LCD TV. Your Thoughts on it.

http://www.samsung.com/au/products/tv/lcdtv/la46f71b.asp
I am looking for a NEW TV and I want one that's good. Also I want one
that can be fully used as a Home Theatre PC. From what a read this can
do this in HDMI and Component in full 1920by 1080p, which is what I
want. Also does 1:1 Pixel mapping with a Firmware upgrade, I have been
told this is good :0

If you have this TV or the 40 Inch version I would really like your
feedback on DVD, Digital TV, ect playback as well. Also how good are
the blacks, though not too concerned about that, more concerned about
flesh tones :

Thanks for any info.

I wish the government would mandate no new LCD or Plasma TV's to have analog
tuners or have a digital as well. There's too much electronic crap being
dumped into Australia

well contrast Europe with the US - you have generally higher technical
standards in Europe in the domestic market compared to the US. Many ordinary
folk simply don't know all the technical pitfalls that can occur. Like the
early days all the 720 x 480 screens being touted, not even PAL standard.
Australia is lucky to have the standard 3 pin power plug - the 'market'
bitterly opposed it back in the 1940's. The pendulum has swung far too to
the right we need heaps of regulation in a whole lot of areas to reduce
duplication and as a result more green house effects etc. Analog is going
to be turned off in a few years so why do you think the market is pushing
old stock into Australia? It's because the market knows the average
Australian consumer is fazed out by technobabble. The market shouldn't be
given 'sainthood' it does and can make monumental mistakes. Kerry Packer
made his fortune on the stock exchange by being a contratarian ie he went in
the opposite direction to the herd (the market)

I wish the government would stop mandating anything about TV, since they
obviously don't understand what they are doing.

Then analogue TV would probably still be sold pretty much exclusively,
since digital obviously isn't going anywhere in the market without
government intervention.

If the government auctioned broadcast spectrum every ten years or so,
anyone wanting to broadcast TV could decide whether the spectrum was
worth competing for, and whether they wanted to use analogue or digital
(or whether they wanted to use the spectrum for higher value services
like mobile phones).

Meanwhile, in the computer industry, digital monitors have been
available for a long time, and 1920x1080 (and more) is also readily
available. Seems that if you have content, people will use digital, and
high definition.
