I have a 60 inch Samsung rear projection tv. Lately I've noticed a
couple of yellow spots at the bottom of the screen. They are really
noticeable on something white on the screen. They show up even on my DVD
player which is hooked up via component input. Sounds crazy but i turned
on my over head light in the living room and it seemed to go mostly
away. Found that out by chance. Now it seems to be coming back again.
Was wondering what this might be.

It might be one of your loudspeaker magnets. Try moving any nearby speakers
and see if it goes away or changes color.

Not on a rear projection unit. Is it DLP or LCD?

My speakers are shielded but I did move them but the spots were still
there. When I say spots I don't mean little spots. The one on the left
is pretty good sized. I think it may have something to do with the crt.
I think that's what they're called. The red, green and blue lights. I
did a convergence with my remote and I can get the cross hairs ok but
the lettering at the top might be ok but the lettering on bottom will
have red and blue halos. Or the lettering on bottom might be ok but the
top not. Thanks for any help.

Without being there to see the problem, that's the best I can offer. I
suggest you call the store you bought it from, or ask the manufacturer.

When you turn on your overhead light chances are its incandescent, and most
such have a lot of yellow and brown in the specturm they put out, so they
are washing out the "spots".
If I remember correctly (not a sure thing) blue and green make yellow, so
maybe your red gun is missing a spot, maybe some phospere has burnt out. Or
your color decoder could be on the fritz.
You need to have someone look at it, I'd wait until it gets worse, to the
point that I couldnt stand it. Maybe you could watch TV with the light on
:-)

Thanks for the reply. I think I've found out what it is but i'm not
positive yet. This all started when I moved into my new apartment. I
have a big bay window in my living room and I think it may be from
sunlight. It's been cloudy here for a few days and the spots are about
gone now (a lot less noticeable). Could sunlight actually cause this?

Maybe moving it caused this problem, maybe now that it has stableized
it's okay, Maybe it has a self-degauzing(sp) feature and it's working.

It did sound like magnet problem to me.
