The Electro-Voice Patrician 800 speakers were first made in the late '50s.
With a 30 inch woofer they were possibly one of the most audacious speaker
designs ever.
I noticed a pair for sale on eBay:

I'm not posting to try to sell them-I have nothing to do with that. I am
doing it so some of the younger people here might want to take a look at
the pictures and description of these legendary speakers.

Ah, the memories! Way back then, Electrovoice sold the components used in
this model (woofer, mid-range horn, & tweeter horn) and they included plans
for building your own enclosures. I followed the plans to the letter and
after many protests from my ex-wife, I had a wonderful pair of gigantic,
livingroom-swallowing, pieces of Mediterranean furniture. My 'ex' won
though, and I finally had to sell them! :-(

THANKS for the post Karl. I never saw these before. Electrovoice did
make a group of speakers and some components for E.J. Kovette in New
York City at that time. And I thought the VOICE OF THE THEATER
speakers were dozies.
