Intercom/Pager

I would like to install a fairly simple intercom and paging system in my
house.

I'd like to include a door/gate intercom plus about 8 stations as well
as a "broadcast" paging system (speakers in a number of spots).

I don't mind cobbling something together, but I would like to keep the
price down (I don't need music or anything fancy).

Any suggestions?
