Hi,
I am new to this forum and thought you guys might be able to help me
out. I just purchased a new Sharp Aquos LCD TV. When I hooked it up to
an ordinary Rabit Ear Aerial I got the normal TV Stations as well as
some extras, TVS? is one of them. I also pick up about 30 stations
where i can hear the audio clearly and vaguely see the image. I am
wondering whats going on here? and is there any way I can optimise the
signal so I can recieve the others clearly?
I live in Sydneys inner west.
Cheers in advance for any help anyone can give me.

I think you will find that they are extra audio channels ,yes you do
get extra channels if you have a Hd set like ABC2 and the community
channel but the rest are mainly stereo music channels.

It is a little odd to have a new aquos tv without a decent aerial. Do
you have one on the roof. Sorry I can't answer your original question
but I can't help but ask why people still use rabbit ear aerials. It
doesn't cost a bundle to have a pro instal a decent antenae on the
roof. If you are in a rental it is a different story as some landlords
don't give a shit.
Damn those landlords.

TVS is the new Channel 31. The other channels may be from repeaters such as
Kings Cross (regular ABC/7/9/10/SBS) where you are unable to get sufficient
picture from the rabbit ears. You can find out by telling us what UHF
channels you are receiving them on.

Yes this most important. If you don't have all your fonts installed the
picture will look wonky.

Thanks for the advice. I have just moved into this property and Im
renting, thats why I am just using rabbit ears.
The extra channels are not audio channels as I cna hear the audio from
movies. I have just realised the previous tennants had foxtel and there
is still the sattellite on the roof and the cable from it in our
loungeroom but I do not have it connected. Does this help shed some
light perhaps?

Well i can tell you it isn't the foxtel as you need a box to decode the
signal, why dont you buy a better indoor arial there are penty around.

Thanks, are there any good indoor arials you would recomend. I thought
the same thing about Foxtel needing a decoder. Thants why im so
confused. It really does sound like Foxtel though as I can hear ads for
Main Event etc.
