Hey folks,

About 5 years ago, I was given a pair of Altec Lansing Santana II
vintage speakers that were seemingly in perfect shape except that they
need to be reconed (and maybe some more...all paper parts of the
woofers are damaged). Few questions about them:

1. How are these speakers? How would they compare in todays world?
Like are they equivalent to a $300, $500, $700...pair of speakers?
Just making sure it's worth repairing rather than buying new.

2. Can these be used to help build a 5.1 surround sound setup, or
would matching any other speakers with these not sound right?

3. I know the woofers need repair, and while everything else visually
looks perfect, I don't know for certain if the rest work. Is there any
way of testing the rest of the speakers before repairing the woofers?

4. I was given one quote of around $150 to repair the 2 woofers
including shipping. Would you guys do it or apply that money to a new
pair speakers.
