I'm about to buy a dvd recorder but saw someone saying it could only
record in mono. I have cable and want to plug that into the dvd
recorder. Will it record in stereo ? If I play back over rf will be
also play in stereo or would I need to send it to the composite ports
on my tv with the left/right stereo channels?

Thanks,
Craig

I forgot to mention the cable is connecting to the rf inputs into the
dvd recorder then into the tv.

It depends on the model. Many of the Chinese-designed recorders do not
have MTS-capable tuners, so recordings of anything input via the RF
(antenna) connections will be in mono. To know whether you would have to
use the audio/video outputs would depend on the brand and model you are
looking at.

Its a Panasonic ES15 DVD Recorder. I have a VCR also made by Panasonic
and checked it to see if it was really stereo. I don't think it is so
its probably not a big deal. Still planning on getting the DVD
Recorder.

I feel really stupid. What is the correlation between whether your VCR
is stereo, and your planned DVD recorder?

The two units are to be hooked up using RF cable, not video plus audio.
Even so, it should work fine
