View Full Version : Degaussing a TV

The in-law's TV needs degaussing. It is a 15-20 year old 80cm Mitsubishi CRT
and whilst it may be old, it is still a brilliant TV. They thought it was on
the way out and were having to prepare to buy a new TV - even my missus was
considering giving them one of our 68cm TVs and we get to buy ourselves a
new flat panel (!!).... Until I suggested that it looks to be nothing more
than what it is. They are more than happy to keep the old TV.. and why not.
Whilst I understand many of the newer CRTs (of the last 10 years or so) have
an in-built degausing system (I can hear our TVs doing so on start up) is
there any degaussing coils available locally (Perth) at a reasonable
price..?
Alternatively, I suppose getting a TV tech out do do the relatively simple
job for a inverse-relatively large sum.
Any ideas..?
Cheers,
Gavern

The Mitsubishi of this size and age had degaussing on the remote.... you
need to stick a pin in a little hole.
