All Phillips DVD recorders have component inputs. (This means all Magnavox
do as well)
The Sony RDR HX900 alos has component inputs. The replacement for this model
will also have component inputs.
They work real well and I have had good results in recording HD material
from my HD DVR to DVD (They are downrez'd of course to SD)
I am over the moon with the Sony unit. The Philips units seems to have a bad
rep when you redthe user reviews on Amazon etc.
I hope this is helpful.

Hook your recorder to the vcr tape loop and it will record whatever
recording source is set on your receiver.
If you want to record off of another dvd player you have to use the s-video
and analog audio outputs, and if the disc is copy protected you still wont
be able to record it

A friend of mine has a magnavox (MRV640) that I am in vain trying to teach
how to use and it has no component inputs, none of the phillips units I
lookied at when I bought my sony (rdrgx-300) had any and none of the Sony
units, are you sure you're talking about component and not composite? I cant
beleive the studios would allow a recorder with component ins to ever see
the light of day without launching a nuclear strike on the electronics
industry, and have never seen such a unicorn.
If you do have one cherish it, because I can assure you that they arent
making any more and if they are they wont be for long
