Yeah, how about that, they write in their lit that some tv sets wont be able
to handle it
Why use this rez? These players are advertised as "upconverting" a picture
to hi-def from the standard 480p.
Well, 1080i is an INTERLACED format, with two frames of 540 lines making a
picture of 1080.
But the "resolution" is equavalent to 525p.
This is because when an interlaced picture has movement the rez collapses to
half of the rez of a still frame
So the 525p of the samsung is probably similar to 1080 in theory, but when I
had one of these I really couldnt tell much diff between 480p and the
"high-def" out
