VERY TRUE, and sony speakers suck.
I heard something similar, about how bose tunes their crossovers to keep out
frequencies that would cause their cheap plastic "bass module" enclosures to
resonate.
And theres' a hole in the midrange that you could drive a truck through,
because the tweeters dont go low enough and the "bass" doesnt go high enough
