Help me please...
I have a 8 ohm Home Theater receiver (5.1 Dolby Digital) connected to
'two front' 6 ohm floor style speakers and remaining are 8 ohm
satellite speakers & Subwoofer.
I have problem with the front speakers...
I get excellent sound from fronts when playing FM radio, but very low
sound when playing DVD or Digital Cable. I tried changing speaker sound
levels, etc, etc..but nothing has helped.
I have used a digital coaxial cable to connect the DVD to the
receiver..
If connecting the 6 ohm speaker to 8 ohm receiver is the problem - how
come the FM tuner works great??
Thanks for your interest!

You posted this in alt.home-theater 2 days ago, got three responses which
you apparently didn't find of sufficient value to respond to or ask further
questions. No only did you post this 2 days ago, but how strange that your
post here is word for word the same. Kind of odd?

Have you configured your surround sound levels on the tuner digital
menu? Surround sound balance should be manually adjustable. Don't look
for a knob, there aren't any.

I have configured my sound levels on DVD, but have done nothing to the
tuner since the sound quality was already nice..
I plan to connect the main speakers thru the sub woofer - I am not sure
if that would make a difference...will let you know if that works.
Bill: Sorry that you found my posting here odd. I did reply on alt.home
theater but I noticed that there are more subscribers here. So I posted
the same message here as well. I have been checking the other list but
nobody seems to have replied.
Anyways, thanks for you replies and interest.

From everything I've read & heard, you'll get better sound if you can keep
the sub & mains connected separately.
Maybe a dumb thought &/or tried already. But have you tried switching the
fronts & the surrounds to see if that makes a difference?

No problem. I guess I've just been in too many linux NGs lately with too
much trolling. Actually, you're likely to get more responses, here. Did
any of the replies in the the other NG help or are you still at a
standstill? If you're still looking for a solution, maybe posting the
specs for the two sets of speakers might give a clue.

It would probably reverse his balance problem. Speakers vary widely in
their efficiency. For instance, sealed-box acoustic suspension
speakers require much more power than reflex loaded speakers. However,
I have never heard of a 5.1 receiver that did not have the ability to
balance speaker output. If he's not adjusting his receiver, which he
avoided even talking about, he is just exercising his futility.
