Yeah, but I think they are a little bit expensive for me.

I would like a second one to manage some other stuff I have, but by the time I do the software upgrade on them, it becomes a bit much.

Hi Rohan

I've noticed on another forum you have an old Minder Mk1 (AKA Jeeves). Do you have the two minders talking to each other? I say this as I have the same as you (one of each installed), and... they 'chat' by using C-Bus as the communications medium. I might even have a spare old C-Bus interface card for the Jeeves around (assuming your Mk1 doesn't have a C-Bus Interface)if you're interested.

The two controllers are doing quite different things... the Mk2 is in the house and serves up security, heating , lighting, RF remotes, IR and is the master for the irrigation. The Mk1 is in the shed and controls a small amount of lighting & irrigation. The Mk1 is a slave driven by C-Bus group addresses to in turn, drive the relay and scenario states (I also partial arm from the shed when the rest of the family are out).

It may also help your I/O shortage a little.

My plan is almost exactly as you describe.

I don't have the MK1 running at the moment, and I was thinking if I could get another Mk2 then that would be a bit better.

The MK1 gave me faithfull service for many years, and it should still work fine, although I was never happy with how hot it used to run and I am a little concerned about putting it into an oven which is what my shed becomes on a hot day.

Hi Rohan

Mine is in the oven (shed) and operates quite happily!! We had four consecutve days when the temp was 44 degrees + (even hotter in the shed) with no problems. The design of the old units was extremely good.

Rohan

I've done my spring cleaning in the shed and as I thought, there were a couple of parts for the old Minder Mk1. i've got a C-Bus Interface and an X10 interface that you are welcome to if you want them. If you want to pay for the postage, they're yours. If not, i'll throw them out.

Let me know if you want them.

Thanks Chris,

I do have those parts in mine but I'm always happy to keep some spares.

Let me know how much you want to ship them to Melbourne, and I'll fix you up.

I can pay via paypal if you have an account, or direct deposit if you prefer.

Thanks again.

Cheers

Rohan

Did you guys sort out the X10 module and C-Bus interface?
