Wait a sec..... Until last year I had a Klaus Novabeam and I thought it was
lacking a lot.

Or is that too old to count??

that novabeam is to CRT projectors, what digital technology is now. It
was COOL, but it lacked a lot.(not size though) It was an emerging
technology and market.

I remember the Kloss Novabeam projectors. They were so heavy and they
weren't very bright, and they only used curved screens instead of flat
ones.

Actually, I got mine dialed in for a flat screen (with some difficulty but
success). I know it's heavy, we ceiling mounted it with just two people,
used three threaded rods per side. When we moved this past spring, I let it
go with the house. I just didn't wanna take it down, the new people enjoy
it.

Some LCD's that I would recommend are:

Sony VPL-HS51 (1280x720 native 6000:1 contrast ratio) $2500-2700
http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sony-VPL-HS51.htm

Panasonic PT-AE700U (1280x720 native; 2000:1 contrast ratio; smooth screen
to minimize screendoor) $2000-2100
http://www.projectorcentral.com/Panasonic_Home-PT-AE700U.htm

Sanyo PLV-Z3 (1280x720 native; 2000:1 contrast) $1800-2000
http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sanyo-PLV-Z3.htm

I don't like DLP's for me because the rainbow effect drives me crazy - even
the faster color wheels (though to a much lesser degree). I have the PLV-Z2
(1280x720 native; 1300:1 contrast) and it is very good (I have no compelling
reason to upgrade until there is a 1920x1080 projector that has 4000:1 +
contrast ratio and costs under $3500 which will be a few years).
