How do I get 5.1 from my HTPC?

I have a HTPC, which consists of a Albatron KM18G Pro II, Hauppauge Nova-T
HDTV card, JLMS XDHD 166S DVD ROM with Windows XP and Showshifter. The
motherboard has S/PDIF output, which I am feeding into my Nakamichi AV-10 AV
receiver, which is working fine, but I cannot get Dolby Digital sound from
the TV or DVD.

What additional software or hardware do I need to get a Dolby encoded audio
signal output?
