Pioneer HTD510 Receiver help

I have a Pioneer DVD Receiver and I have recently installe a Satellite
receiver. I thought that if I used the AUX audio ports on the Pioneer
receiver, I could send the audio from the Satellite receiver to my Pioneer
receiver to take advantage of the sound system. Then, I could use the audio
out from aux to go to my VCR for recording. However, I have found that when
I record on my VCR I get no sound with this setup. What am I missing?

If I go directly from the Satellite receiver to the VCR it works fine. Is
there something special I have to do with the Pioneer receiver setup to pass
sound through the aux ports?
