I want to upgrade my current speaker setup to a better 7.1 setup.
I have looked mostly at Paradigm and Athena and have liked both. The
Athenas are somewhat cheaper though.

AS-F2 $550/pr
AS-B2 $199/pr x2
AS-C1 $175

All prices in canadian dollars. I already have an AS-P300 sub but will
probably buy a 12" Velodyne shortly.

Just wondering how everyone thinks Athena speakers stack up against
Paradigm? I can get a better price on the Athenas so will the Paradigm
monitor series be worth the extra money. I have listened to both but
nobody around here stocks both brands to do a side by side comparison.

I have heard many Paradigm and a few Athenas. Nothing in the Athen
line compares at all to Paradigm in my opinion. There may be some but
I haven't listened to them all.

I own the exact speakers you're talking about (dang they dropped in price).
I like the front's and center's, but the little surrounds leave much to be
desired. What I'm planning on doing with my system is putting the F2's as my
surrounds, the B2s as my rear channel, and getting some big whomping mofo's
for the front channel.

I'm not an audiophile, nor have I heard paradigm's, but I'm a very picky
consumer who is still happy with his over 1 year old purchase :-).

If you want to stick with a Canadian product that is about the same
price level, then have a listen to the PSB line also. If I were to
pick from that group, I would go with them.
