Hi Guys,
Ok here's the deal. I have a Sony STR-DE845 Reciever and a nice
set of JBL speakers, enough to do a 5.1 surround sound and a sub to boot. I
went out and bought a SACD player and a great pair of cables, here's the
problem. The sacd player has the plug in type connection but on my reciever,
the rear and center speaker hookups on the back are the old 'push in the tab
and stick wire in' connection. Now I have yet to see cables with both ends
so what can I do? Must I buy a new reciever? Any help would be great.
Thanks
George
I thought about stripping off the plug at one end but that seems dumb.

George, you really need to take a look at your manual. The spring loaded
terminal go to your speakers.
The bad news is I just looked your receiver up and it looks like it came out
in 1999 and doesn't support the 5.1 SACD analog inputs.
Bottom line, two channel SACD is the best your going to get. You can use
any two of your analog (RCA) L/R inputs for these.
You might really want to do some research and educate yourself on the
multichannl formats. Allot to learn out there.

Yes you need a new receiver. Yours is quite obsolete so it's time for an
upgrade! You need 5.1 channel analog inputs.
And just a hint...avoid Sony this time.

Contrary to what the other posters have said, this receiver apparently
does have a 5.1 analog audio input. It is not obsolete. The manual
is here:
http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=STRDE845&LOC=3
See page 11. It outlines how to hook up your player with standard
analog audio cables. You don't use the speaker clips to hook it up -
those are speaker outputs on the receiver, not analog inputs.
Finally, I've had very good luck with Sony A/V products. There is
nothing wrong with them IMHO.
