It pays to go to the top and bypass middle dipshits. The LG manager must
have put the word on the store manager because when I took the unit back
the second time, the service tech [ yes, they have one in the store ]
tested it immediatly, deemed it stuffed and gave me a new one on the
spot, no hassles.
Browny points to LG service manager and the tech at JB who KNEW it was
stuffed.

I was very lucky when my $7,500 plasma panel burned out 2 years ago , it
was only 1week away from the waranty being used, but the replacement was
only valued at $3999 at the time [now $2999] and after much arguing they
gave me a full 12 month waranty on the new one ,which i paid the extra
extended 5 years just in case .

Ive had this one 2 years now touch wood and no
trouble.

What argument did u use?
Usually they give u a new set and the balance of the original warranty.

Firstly i rang consumer affairs in sydney and got advice off them, they
told me that the new plasma had to be of servicable quality to last at
least 12 months and it didnt matter if LG didnt give me a waranty they
said if it broke down in the 12 months normal waranty period Lg would
have to honour a committment to repair the plasma.
So i sent a registered letter to LG and told them that ,apparently
they them selves had no faith in their own products other wise they
would give a new waranty on the new set which was not the same one as i
originally bought but a cheaper one as the price had dropped.

Afew weeks latter i recieved a letter from Lg saying they had
reviewed my case and granted me a 12 months waranty on the new model
plasma.,Of cause i then bought an additional 4 years just in case for
$260.

It does not matter if you have anything on paper - the consumer law in
Australia makes it absolute that all new consumer domestic electrical
products MUST carry a 12 month warrenty regardless of what anyone tells
you. It's law.
