I am looking to buy som PIR units to use for security in my house and am looking for advice on what to look for avoid etc.
I intend to hook them up to my Minder. Even though it is not recommended to use it as a security panel, it will suffice for me in the short term until the money tree in the backyard starts to fruit.
So is there any standout units that are "The one's to get"? I see you can now get combination PIR & Microwave units, but they are pretty expensive.
One thing I should mention is I hate false alarms (even more than my neighbours) so these things need to be rock solid with temp variations etc.
Any advice gratefully received
Cheers

Thanks Frank.
I had a look at the site and the Ceiling mounted units look reasonably attractive.
Do you have a price list, the web site said the price list is only available to the trade.

You don't happen to know if the folk at C-Bus sales handle the "Quantum Sonic" do you?
That seems like a good idea, so long as the price is right.

Just to wrap this up, I elected to go with the NESS Quantum Sonic.
http://www.ness.com.au/detectors.htm
Bought from C-Bus Sales at what I believe to be a very reasonable price.
These units have an inbuilt Piezo siren, so I can flood the house with ear piercing sound without the need to install seperate sirens.
Thanks also to Frank for your input.
Cheers

Hi Rohan
Sorry for the delay...The ceiling mount units from Pulnix were around $90.00 when i got them .......
I use to use another brand until one hot evening while testing a large commerial site i noticed i could just about go up and kiss the pir before it realised i was there.....Cant do that with the Pulnix ceiling mount sensors.....;-))
So when you install your sensors ...on a nice hot day see how responsive they are ......
Good Luck
Frank
