A year and a half after i wanted to start with this, i have finaly
moved into my house and am ready to [re]wire it for security,
automation, and av.

I know this is an odd question, but what has changed in the last year
and a half?

Well, not much really...

* The Red Sox won the World Series
* A Hurricane hit the Gulf Coast and wiped out New Orleans
* The Federal Reserve raised interest rates twelve times.
* Crude oil is at $70 per barrel, up from $25.
* Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston split up.

That's about it.

You forgot to mention Aliens have cloned President Bush (according to a
supermarket tabloid)...
