To add to that Doom 9 (www.doom9.org) is an excellent site in regards to backing up DVDs etc

Do you guys get stuff from KiSS Technology (http://www.kiss-technology.com/)?

Basically their 500 & 1500 has an in built harddisk and ethernet connection allowing you to stream all MPG/2/3 & MP4 (DivX, XVid etc) audio & video through to it from a PC. They have just released a wireless version (featured in this months DigitalHome mag)

I have had the 500 for about 2 years now although my obsession for clutterless IT has resulted in that going out the window also. I have 2 media servers (approx 500gb each) that can output 2 unique video streams to any room in the house via CAT. The audio goes into a Denon AV Amp for the surround, DTS etc, then each of the 10 channels (5 for each speaker set) gets distributed via CAT (1 tp per speaker).

On the other hand, some people do like to see their kit, not just a single remote control!

Cheers
Greg

Why not just integrate an AMX MaX Unit ? it's much effective, and it's basically a media server that distributes perfectly with no quality loss from the original recordings dvd/music/mpx what ever...
