What eats the signals from my Ocelot? I know if I plug my laptop into the
same power point as a lamp module I cannot turn on that light. What other
gear eats X10 signals.

This is much easier to troubleshoot with something like the ELK ESM1 but I'm
not aware of any resonably priced 230V X-10 meter devices.
However, you should be able to use an ESM1 by replacing its 120:12VAC
transformer with a 230:12VAC transformer and then adjusting it (internal
potentiometer) to give a fullscale reading on a strong signal.

It's probably a matter of the laptop power supply generating
enough RF noise on the power line that the X10 signal is swamped.
A lot of appliances with switching power supplies will do this -
including some TV's, UPS's, stereos.
