To anyone from the northeastern part of Pa., in the town of
Wilkes-Barre, a message (non Pontiac oriented)
BEWARE- AVOID the Maytag appliance store on Rt. 309 by Home Depot, in
Wilkes-Barre. The guy that owns it is a major jerk, he talked me into a
$110 gas flow valve for my Magic Chef stove, and then refused to take
it back when that was not the problem.
I had to spend another $75 online to get ignitors, which were the real
problem. And the p-rick won't take the gas valve back.
The store is located right by where the old Zayre's dept. store used to
be, on RT. 309.
BEWARE- SHOP ELSEWHERE !! The guy changes from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde
depending on if you are handing him money or not at the time.

Were you trying to get "free" information about how to repair your stove?
In that case it was really your choice to buy the part. This is no different
then walking into an automotive parts store and soliciting free advice and
buying say a fuel pump and then trying to return the pump if it didn't solve
the problem.
When you installed the valve it is not a new part anymore and pretty much
standard practice to treat it as such. I agree with this because how is the
store supposed to know the condition of the valve after you used it and not
have someone else complaning "store xyz is no good...they sold me a used
part"?

If you didn't know what you were doing you should have called a
qualified technician. You got free advice and it was worth exactly what
you paid for it. Put the valve up for sale on ebay and stop whining.
