View Full Version : Odd Thinkboxx Behaviour (tamper alerts)
I have a Thinkboxx running v4.06 - it works fine, but every now and then (agenerally every couple of days - but then it might do it three times in one day)it decides to have tamper alerts over all classes and input types - inc the ITT wireless window sensor units. I cannot identify any programming reasons and the fact that all inputs that are protected show an alert, one after the other - makes me think it's a hardware bug. Any ideas as to the cause and a fix ?

It is a hardware bug! There is a problem with in internal comparitor so.... the internal voltage screws up and you see things like zones going 'open' briefly. The only way to fix (well get past) this is to only have alarm conditions on alarm (don't monitor the open or short conditions of a protected loop for your alarm). What you can then do is use an ignore for say 10 seconds for the open and short conditions (other in classes) which should stop alarms occuring. In reality, you shouldn't see open or short conditions ever (of course unless there is a tamper issue.... then you are in trouble anyway).
You may also need to play with the ignore time(s) to refine this.
BTW, I assume you need the touchscreen mentioned in your previous post for this installation.
Cheers
Thanks for advice about it being a hardware bug - it had me worried that I had a hardware fault, I will put in 'ignore' instructions in the tamper scenarios. Do you recommend a time for the ignore instruction ?
In regard to touchscreen, yes I am interested.

Drew
ignore my last question, you already answered the question in your reply post, thanks again
