After more than four weeks of daily 2 - 3 hour recording and watching,
I've just purchased a second Toshiba J35 (red dot Version 70) from HN
Bondi Junction and will be installing it on Monday (also upgrading to
320GB) and replacing my Topfield, LG4100p and Toshiba 23a.

Reasons why:

1. Great PQ as a result of HD and DVI.

2. No significant problems to date (Version 69).

3. Upgraded HDD to 320GB and it works perfectly in every sense.

4. Don't use EPG or Picture in Picture.

5. Do use chase play.

6. Have had no audio/video dropout problems (aerial signal strength 4 -
5 bars) and anyway I believe the problem has been corrected with
version 70 (red dot) firmware.

7. Do record two programs at once while watching a previous recording
and then delete the one just watched whilst the other two are still
recording.

8. Has not missed a single scheduled recording.

One minor problem to date:

If the standby button is pressed for too long or too short a time then
the box locks with the green light illuminated. This is easily
corrected with a very very brief mains power off/on and then all is
immediately healthy again. I believe this problem is being currently
addressed and will be resolved in the next firmware update.

All in all, having had many other makes which also required firmware
upgrades, the J35 is now my box of choice and I've put my money where
my mouth is.

Additionally I've found Jonathan at Castel very cooperative and
interested.

Why are we spending all this time and money on home theatre if not to use
it? I think this is the wrong newsgroup for that comment. :-)

He said 2 to 3 hours, and by watching off the hard disk, you can actually
watch 2 hours worth of TV, for about 2 hours, once you skip through adverts,
and intro of shows etc etc

Haha, and you spend most of your "life" trolling the newsgroups making a
prick out of yourself. Who needs to "get a life" now Fred?

Still living near the shit farm?
