View Full Version : open source UPB drivers?

I've been following UPB for a while now, and recent events such as
HAI's announcement that their forthcoming HLC line will be based on
UPB, and the availablity of UPB products on a price point with high-end
X10 stuff (see http://www.webmtn.com/products/products.php?cat=UPB)
have me interested in using it.

Now the question becomes, since the PC interface has an open and
documented serial protocol (http://www.pcslighting.com/TechNotes.htm),
has anyone started adding support for it in open source drivers?

I haven't seen any mention of such a thing in this forum or other
potential places (misterhouse-users list, for example, or the major
projects listed on Neil Cherry's page).
Is such a thing in the works anywhere?

I haven't gotten to it yet (limited funds for my projects). Since I
now have to pay for my education (employer no longer pays for
Engineering degrees, grrrr!) it will probably take me a few months to
get the equipment. BTW, I've noticed that they has a USB version as
well as a RS232 version.

Usb to serial convertors are really really nice toys. You'd be
astounded how many devices are actually serial, with a USB<->serial
convertor on the front.
