NAD C320Bee

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any experience with the above amp?
For the last 5 years i've used a TEAC 5.1 Receiver, through very old
Kenwood speakers. In my quest to upgrade my hifi, i started with Krix
Lyrix Gold speakers, which made an incredible difference, absolutely
superb speakers...........anyway back on topic, today i received my new
NAD C320Bee amp. Ive been told and have read, only glowing reports on
this amp (and other NAD products), but I have to say I was disappointed
when i hooked it up today. I realise i may just be used to the tones
of my other amp, and i've had the NAD running all day hoping that i
can adjust to this very different sound, but i cant :(. The beautiful
bass from my speakers has decreased, and i seem to be hearing way too
much treble, even with it 'flat' and lower. Acoustic guitar notes
through my TEAC were so clean and warm, but now sound very shallow and
'tinny'. I've checked and rechecked wiring, moved speakers, tried all
settings (there isnt many to try, simplicity is what i wanted).

Before I ring the store and talk it over with them, i'm just wondering
if anyone else has this amp or has had any disappointments with similar
situations as mine, or any suggestions to try. I feel like im the
only person on the planet who doesnt favour a NAD product over my older
inferior one :(

Something quick to try..

Try reversing the polarity on ONE of the main front speakers. It might be
out of phase and causing bass cancellation.

you beat me to it.
Nad have a good reputation, I would doubt that , there would be a problem
with the Amp.
As Mark said, check all your connections are round the right way.

Hi and thanks for the suggestions. The retailer also told me to do
that, which i did, there was no noticeable difference either way,
another audio guy told me that that may indicate a problem....should i
hear a noticeable difference between normal polarity and reversed
polarity???

The retailer doesnt seem to think its a problem, but im still hearing
better sound through my TEAC. The model of the TEAC is AG-V8500, i
picked it up new for $400 around 5 years ago, im certain its not a
fancy receiver, by no means NAD quality, but if anyone knows any
different, please enlighten me! Maybe i picked up a real bargain back
then, hence the better sound now??? Im confused about it all...and
waiting to hear from the amp seller as to whats the next move :(.

I have the same amp and I thought it sounded quite OK. In fact I now
use it as a stereo amp as I have upgraded to Dolby Digital.

Hi,

Take the amp back to the retailer, and compare it side by side with their
display unit on the same demo speakers. You'll soon find out if you got a
dud.
