Does anyone have any suggestions for an inexpensive receiver for use
with Abus system? I currently have my home theater receiver attached to
my Abus hub. It seems overkill to leave a large 5.1, several hundred
watt receiver running for just FM radio. Ultimately I am looking for a
stereo receiver that has one stereo input and FM radio. There are no
speaker connections required (it will be locked away in the basement).
It also must be remote controllable.

Thanks,

Dan

My plan is to just use a PC with an FM tuner, mp3 and web radio playback.
Sure, it's probably consuming more wattage than a simple IR-controlled
consumer audio device but it's a lot more flexible. Multiple USB sound
cards controlled my Media Center (from J.River) offer the ability to drive
the different A-bus sources. I've yet to install the a-bus but don't forsee
too many difficulties with it.

A receiver is a tuner + amplifier. Since you don't need the amplifier,
you should be looking for a tuner instead. A quick search shows some
new ones from $75, used ones about half that on eBay. Of course, I also
see pricier ones that are designed for expensive component systems. If
you don't care how it looks, you could also use a cheap bookshelf
system sans speakers, or a boombox with a remote.
