Is there a list anywhere of what else Minder will be able to do when it is upgraded to become a Thinkboxx?
Also, can someone confirm whether or not you can send/receive dim commands via X10 or are you just limited to on/off? The Minder software says it can handle dim commands however it only allows on/off in the GUI.

Hi Tom,
A full list of available options can be found on the Smart Web site. (http://www.smart.com.au/downloads/quickstartguides/quickstartguides.html)

Hi Tom,
I have attached a zip with the readme and help files from 4.0.6
This is ok, as the 4.0.6 firmware is available for 30 day trial and the Thinkboxx folks have told me its ok for me to share the full version.
Of course if you have not registered with them after 30 days it will stop working.
If you can't get it directly from Smart, let me know and I can email it to you (I hope you have broadband because there is a fair bit of it).
Regards
Rohan

Thanks guys,
When I spoke with one of the Smart guys the other day he said the 30 day trial was available on their downloads page. It must be well hidden! Anyway, I have broadband and am keen to get hold of it to try it out.
My provider has a 5Mb limit per email message and a 20Mb total, so if this is hassle is there anywhere I can download it from? If not, don't worry about it -I don't want to put you out and I can get back in touch with the Smart guys
next week. Rohan, I'll send you a private message with my email address just in case.
cheers,
Tom

Well it's not quite that big.
I'll send it the way I got it, 3 seperate zip files.
Now beware, if you upgrade the controller and decide to roll back, I dont know how. the folks at smart told me you can do it but I never have.
Also save all your scenarios, because If I remember correctly it will nuke everything in the controller.
Anyway once you get your hands on all the new goodies, you won't want to go back.
I reckon it was worth the money just because I suddenly got SMS messaging.
Good luck & stand by for email.

Yes you can definatly send Dimm commands. (I have two bed lamps setup this way)
Thing to watch. depending on the X10 Dimmer. you may see this....
Light at 50% dim
you send DIM to 30%
Light then goes to 100% and then dimms to 30%
Problem it at X10 Dimmer end not the Minder.

you can "go back" have done it before, however one thing to watch.
If prompted for a "code" to reload, it is asking for the previous code of the
project in the controller, not the project/firmware you are attemping to
download.
Have also occaisonally seen controller reloads causing the controller to
"hardware lock". If this happens and the thing will not accept your code.
Try the following to wipe it ready for "force controller reload":
disconnect all power, including the lithium battery, this should then wipe the
INI file from the EEPROM.
If it doesn't , its coz the components on PCB are probably holding some
residual power.
ONLY do this with all power sources off/disconnected....
Use a piece of wire to short between the test points on the controller PCB,
they are marked 0V and +5V. if you connect the wire between these two
points for approx 30 seconds, it normally bleeds off any residual power on
the PCB.
ONLY do this with all power sources off/disconnected....
Rhamer was correct about being wary with your scenarios , as depending on
what version of software you use, some changes are made to the code,
particularly when using multiple LCD keypads.
