I recently installed the above receiver in my home theatre.
Yamaha RX-V1500 Info (http://www.yamaha-hifi.com/products.php?lang=e&country=&idcat1=1&idcat2=2&idcat3=2&idprod=1192&archivset=&newsset=)
I bought it through e-bay, from Cabramatta Hi-Fi, for $1,500 - well below RRP of $1,999
It has a number of very useful features which greatly simplified operations in my house, such as:
- Separate powered zones, which allows you to run a different input in another room, which I used to run music from my media PC throughout the rest of the house. There are 2 extra zones to the main zones, allowing effectively 3 different inputs to be run in 3 different rooms/zones, although zone 3 needs a sep amp to drive speakers
- upmixing and downmixing video - which means regardless of whether you have composite, S-Video, or component, it all seemlessly gets converted to whatever you use ( In my case - component video to my projector)
The last issue I'm trying to sort out is it doesn't seem to convert a digital audio input for the separate zones, which is making the connection of the media PC tricky, as I obviously want digital audio in the theatre, but the separate zones only need stereo
