The purpose of these forums is to provide a platform of discussion for the electrical industry, from manufacturer to the installer. I'm just providing the platform.
As with any new board it will take some time to get the word out out there.
I expect the forums will evolve this way and that, I'm just going to roll with the flow. The user base will drive the discussions and the topics.
About me.
Our Web site is at http://www.integrate-oz.net (http://www.integrate-oz.net/)
Our web site gives an overview of our company, what services we provide and the experience we have gained.
I would encourage all to get into thses forums and have a go. You now have a platfrom of discussion. I just want to encourage you to use it.
Enjoy.
Cheers
Ross.

I guess we are supposed to do a reply instead of a new thread per, so I'll go with that instead of being possibly presumptuous I guess. :)
My name is Dean Roddey, I'm the owner of Charmed Quark Software (www.charmedquark.com), and we have a software based control system named The Charmed Quark Controller, CQC for short, for Windows XP/2K. I won't do the usual spinmeistering here and will just refer you to the web site for details. Since you folks down under are English speakers, even if a little hard to understand sometimes :D, CQC should be quite easily applicable for you.
I'm glad to see more automation related web sites coming along. The topic still seems to remain on the outskirts of the mainstream for some reason, even though folks like me are working hard to bring the price down substantially relative to the traditional systems.

Welcome to the forums Dean,
After that shamless plug you deserve to have your own section.
Cheers

I'll add my bit
I was not going to join, but then I though if I don;t then it wont work. We all have to participate for it to work so here I am
My name is Mykel (Mick), I am a process Control Engineer for Bluescope Steel. I don't sell anything, so there will be no plugging of products from me :-)
My interest is purley as a hobbie, I love to Automate (which is why i like my job). I have a farm which at the moment only has two large sheds. I have installed a c-bus system into both and futre plans are for the c-bus to be isntalled into the houses. I have two GE 90-30's as well for general automation.
Gates, pump control and water level monitoring (Currently have an ultrasonic on the water tank) are all planned for the near future. The biggest problem I find is getting stuff at a reasonable price. A decent interface (SCADA system) is way out of the price range of a DIY homeowner.
Thats about it for me - just call me a freak!

Mick,
Welcome to the forum. You are breaking the mold a bit mate by actually having a go :D
Pleanty of people visit and "lurk" around but don't go any further. Others sign up for membership and then do nothing, not a post in site.
I was hoping people would get into it a bit more and have a go, time will tell. So what part of the world are you located in Mick? Good to see you enjoy your hobby of tinkering with automation. Enjoy the forum.
Cheers
Ross.

So what part of the world are you located in Mick?
I'm in the Illawarra region - South of Sydney
I have been looking for a group such as this that has people experienced in systems such as C-bus so that I could learn some of the tips and tricks. These are the type of thing that manuals do not cover but can make a difference to the project - making a good design a better one.

My name is Dave from Brisbane, Queensland. I am a Senior Software Developer at Queensland Newspapers (ie Courier Mail). I have been interested in Home Automation for around 6 months, but have yet to lay my hands on any hardware. It's all theory at the moment, mostly CIS stuff as that seems to have the most information in readily accessible (web) format. I'm pretty much looking for a good place to start (and this looks to be it ;) )!

My name is Dylan from the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. I'm a domestic builder though haven't done much work lately.
I have been interested in home automation for about 7 years and have a Clipsal Minder/C-Bus installation in my own home. Also, being a quadriplegic, home automation is some some help in my day to day life.

Hi all
Thought I would join in & have a go like the rest of you. I live on the central coast of NSW & compute to sydney where I am a helpdesk manager for a IT company. I started out as electronics technician 18 years ago & sort of progressed into the IT world but have never lost the passion for electronics. I am very new to this home automation stuff & recently finished my home theatre which by natural progression lead to automation. Next saturday I meet with Ross which im sure will open the doors to a whole new world & look forward to posting lots of questions & answers in the future.
