I just wanted to make a wee post to point you guys at some upcoming nice stuff. First off all, we have a completey new web site, which you can preview at:
http://www.charmedquark.com/www2/NewWSPre/
The old site was WAY too geeky and made people think that the product was way more complex than it really was. This one is all just overview and marketing information, and the technical stuff is being restructured and moved into offline downloadable documents.
The first document I've created is a new 'Quick Tutorial' that takes you on a hands-on tour through the product's major features, so that you can actually go through the steps of configuring a small automation scenario. It uses a new 'device simulator' program that comes with the new 1.3.5 version, so you don't have to figure out how to hook ot up to your own devices before you can evaluate the product properly, and it insures that everyone can follow allow and create exactly the same scenario.
The 1.3.5 beta is now publically available for evaluation, after a pretty extensive vetting by old timers, so it's nice and stable. So if you've thought about CQC before but just couldn't get your head around it because the documentation was just too abstract for you, you might want to try it again and go through the tutorial so that you can really get a no-nonsense, low theory view of the product this time.
The beta is available via the preview web site above (in the Try/Buy section, and then select Try It.) There is a link on that same page to the quick tutorial document so you can grab that from there as well.
Anyway, I'd love to hear any comments or criticisms of the new web site, the tutorial or the beta. I think that you'll find that the product has continued to make huge improvements and now with more documentation oriented towards helping you spin up on it, we hope that more people will give it a try and see how incredibly powerful it can be.
