I flagged this device on cbus forums as something that would be nice if we could interface it with the CBUS/Minder/Thinkboxx system. Seems the suggestion crossed the line but I think this is something we should all be trying to interface with, especially with an RRP of $US119.

For mine, the Ctouch is too smart (or not smart enough) and far too dear when you are using other automations systems and a digital keypad at this price would be sweet.

Any thoughts?

Howdi,

I guess it would be nice to have a touch screen at a niche price point that fell into the category of "sweet". I believe from CIS's point of view however, they have a product that moves well at its current price point, why change it; and I'd imagine, as would some others, with a healthy profit as well.

This profit drives development and R&D. We all win in the end.

I can see your point however, so don’t get me wrong.

Are you just trying to use it as a thermostat? or are you suggesting it as a general input device.

As far as using it as a thermostat, it can be configured to provide a simple contact closure that normally turns on the heat and opens again when the room is up to temp.

You could wire this directly into your Minder or whatever and then do with it what you want.

I suspect you are thinking of something more complex though.

Cheers

I honeywell is a great window to the future of a device someone needs to bring out. We all have programmable remotes, we can hack the keys and using the facilities it has already, I think the bedroom lightswitch, thermostat alarm keypad and some other devices could easily be done. CTouch is very smart, almosttoo smart for what it is but not smartenought for what it needs to do if it wants be be something controlling.
