BTW: Where did you see a DVD/Hard disk recorder at that price? Australian
Dollars? Excellent price for an excellent machine. Which model?

No Trev there is noway they are that price. As for an excellent machine, you
are being too kind. Any recorder that does NOT have "selectable to the
minute" recording is a waste of money and these suckers like all LG
recorders don't.

**I've used the Philips and the Panasonic. Between the Philips and the Pana,
it is a no-contest. The Pana blows it away. THEN I tried the LG. IMO,
somewhat better than the Pana.

**Indeed, that is a shortcoming I did not uncover with the LG. The Pana, of
course, has that excellent feature.

Yeah Guys, these two brands are the "lowest common denominator", they
have the worlds higest sales of cheap goods, which is what most people
want.WHY? because they don't care.
Those of us who expect better quality, choose other brands!

G'day Vic, have you bought one? $1624 is an inflated retail price anyway
especially for an 80gig LG. My guess is it's a typo error as which dealer
wants to lose over $500 even with rebates on a saleable item. You can buy a
160 gig Pioneer for less than $1600 if you shop around. I did.

Hi Davo , no I don't have bought one of this , I was just
answering to Trevor , who wanted to know where to
get one at that price.
I own a Pioneer DVR-520H-s and I'm quite happy with it.
Cheers
Vic

**Yep. I just found out that they're available everywhere at the same
run-out price. The next generation LGs should be interesting. Due out late
May.

Thanks Trev, I am wrong and I apologise. I have just spoken with my mate who
is the franchisee from HN here and he has confirmed with me I can have one
for $684. The new current retail is listed as $799. Whilst I am not an LG
fan, for that price I am picking one up today for the lounge.

G'day Vic, I have a couple of DVR720H (160gigsHD) as well as a couple of
DVR310's (no HD) and yes Pioneer do make beautiful machines. Is the 520H the
80gig HD? I don't have that one. By the way I'm not trying to sound like a
rich dickhead, I use them in my business all the time. I even have 3 Sharps
with the 80gig HD and they are a nice machine as well. Naturally, our
Panasonics are great also. In my honest opinion with no bias, out of 10 this
is how I list the machines I have by way of ease of use and dependability
out of 10.

Panasonics - all except the DMR-E75V's (these just too bloody hard to work
with) = 9.5 (mainly because of their ease of menu and recording to the
minute feature - in my profession, a very important feature)
Pioneers - all = 8
Sharps - 7.5
LG's = 5.5 (mainly because of the 1,2,4,6hr record only function)
Phillips = 5 ours are + only and weird navigation
Digitrex = 3 also weird navigation
