i want to buy a mini-dv camera, budget of no more than $1100, ive looked at
a few so far and the one i like at the moment is canon mvx200i but it having
no MIC input has made me want to look at something else. Anyone got any
suggestions whats a good video camera in this price range

I've got a Panasonic NV-DS65 and I'm really happy with it. It definitely
has an external mic.

There is a good Panasonic GS-11 24x optical DV camera at Harris Scarf for
$599 at the moment

I bought it for $860 (RRP $1100) 6 months ago

Get that one.
