I've got the I-93, and I've had the DC-X in my room. I haven't heard the
I-66.
The DC-X, in my opinion, is a very harsh speaker, at least on my Rotel
amps, and I wouldn't recommend them that much. This was the DC-X III,
but I haven't heard the new DC-X IV, so I can't give any comment on them.
I got the I-93 for comparison against the Equinox Audio Apogee, and the
Apogee outclassed it in all respects except for bass extension (and even
them that was only slight).
The I-93 is still a great speaker however, and I've come to appreciate
it more over the last two months. I think it is a just a bit forward,
and slightly harsher in the midrange compared to the Apogee (though not
as harsh as the DC-X). Although, talking to Simon at VAF, they probably
need a warmer amp than my Rotel (which is aslightly dry and harsh
sounding amp, maybe Marantz). The I-93 are also very detailed, with
great bass extension (though a bit lean compared to the Apogee). In
comnparison to the DC-X, the I-93 is an order of magnitude better (as
you would expect for around $7000 or so).
Still, when I get another house with a bigger room, I'll be selling the
I-93 to get the Apogee.
