Hi, You can see my new movie room set up here.

http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=12605

Ceilngs are 2600 high. I installed Component, Video S and DVI cables
from amp position to Pj, bought a 100m roll of top quality speaker
cable off eBay and ran these through walls and ceiling to all speaker
positions with banana plugs (also off eBay), used standard electric
wall plates and drilled neat holes for speaker wire, strenghened the Pj
ceiling mount position with a timber slab. One trick is to turn the
centre brace noggin on its side in wall behind stereo gear (before
Gyprock is done) just in case you need to run new tech cables in the
future, that way you can always get them down inside of the wall.

As you can see from the pics with this inset my large screen comes down
in front of the TV. The Screen is mounted 4.1m from Pj, we sit back
4.5m from screen, this is close to a perfect seating/viewing position
for 100" dia screen or thereabouts.

Footnote... here in FNQ we tile our homes due to climate, rug on floor
absorbs some sound, but we do not have any sound problems, yes centre
speaker is currently off centre about to change that although it still
sounds awesome.

PM me if you wish.

If you bought a bigger entertainment unit, you could accommodate the centre
speaker and also stash away all those DVDs out of sight. And maybe also that
unit on the right of the TV (what is it? HTPC?). By reducing the clutter
it'll look very streamlined. Great setup, though, I'm quite jealous.

I wasn't sure if that was a sub, but didn't think anyone would put a sub up
on a unit like that.

I had my centre speaker set up like that too - and you're right you can't
tell by the sound but it just looks shithouse.

I have a buffet unit I got from Freedom which had four cupboards, which I
reconfigured for the purpose of housing my centre speaker, receiver and DVD
player. The existing cupboards weren't quite wide enough for the
speaker/receiver so I hacked the whole thing up so I could widen a section -
it now has one cupboard each side and open middle bay with the gear in it.
i.e. gone from (front view) |__|__|__|__| to |__|___|__| so while it's
smaller than before, it's more practical for my needs.
